Virginia Woolf’s Aquatic Poetic

Virginia Woolf’s imagination lurks in bodies of water. For Woolf, the sea symbolizes many things: the passage of biographical and historical time, the palimpsest quality of memory, the communal nature of consciousness and identity, the mysteries of birth and death. This six-week course will examine Woolf’s aquatic poetic through close readings of The Voyage Out, her first novel, and The Waves, one of her last.
Meets: Saturday, November 4, 2017 – Saturday, December 16, 2017 (6 sessions), 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hugo House
Fees: General: $295.00; members of Hugo House: $265.50
